About Us

Our Stallion

All my horsey life I had a love of western riding & a passion for the Quarter horse. There were few QHs around in the UK in the seventies but I was lucky enough to visit Pricilla Leigh in the New Forest in 1978 & meet her fabulous mare GINGER OF DUNBAR, known as Pampas,& her beautiful colt foal, Ober Sun Duster (Jody ) by Dusters Sport. By pure luck I was able to buy this colt & had him until his death in 1993. I had to geld Jody due to circumstance but we did everything together!!! We rode through busy cities, trekked across the moors & galloped along the beaches in Cornwall. But the year before I moved here to Cornwall we went to the BQHA show & won so many blue & red ribbons...I forget the classes now!!!

Jody was a buckskin but I always marveled at his unique metallic colour with his silver overlay of his dark mane.

In 1995 I saw a red dun colt foal advertised for sale by Pricilla (Ober Star Diamond). His dam was Ober Lucky Star (ex Ginger of Dunbar) by Dr Paul....another stallion I had much admired & had the privilege of riding a few times. I had to have him!!!! I was one of 3 people wanting to buy him but as Pricilla knew me & I had said I wanted to keep him entire......he came to me.....thank you so much Pricilla.....we only now know how important this has been.

Chippy has been with me for 11yrs now & I have said so often about his unique colour & the foals he has bred....so different ....& then I had a visit from a lady this year who said..." I think your stallion is a champagne"

After looking on the internet I was finally able to have him verified as a gold champagne by the ICHR, a new undocumented line!!!! This answered ALL my questions!!!! The strange coloured foals, the piercing blue eyes that darkened, the metallic sheen & the pink freckled muzzles. The champagne gene is dominant so you must have a champagne parent to produce one....hence...Ober Lucky Star & Ginger of Dunbar, registered as a sorrel!!!

In the last couple of years I have realised what a special horse Chippy was in his temperament & type & now having the farm, brought some mares over from the States that gave me "Eye" appeal & were of sound temperament. This year we have a superb field of foals & now know we have a very rare & stunning colour .....a field of GOLD!
